Behind the Pages: Style & Lifestyle Tips From The Love of Home Book Tour

The thing about creative worlds is that they fuse in a cohesive flow. Whether it’s the same fabrics circulating at the same time, or playing off of each other, the fashion world and interior design world are more interconnected than I believe most understand.

Off the bat, they don’t seem to be as woven together but the trends you see mirror each other. They are quite literally cut from the same cloth. All this to say, I felt it would be a fun addition to share some lifestyle highlights that I’ve wanted to share from my book tour for The Love of Home.

Going back to the beginning of this tour, I kicked things off in New York City at the New York Design Center during the 60th annual What’s Now, What’s Next. Here I was thrilled to join Benjamin Moore’s panel, alongside three other interior designers as Benjamin Reynaert led us in a vibrant discussion!

During this panel discussion, the outfit above is what I wore during that chat. Funny enough, I had bought this shirt dress about a year ago, before the book cover color was selected. When I was packing and getting everything in order, I found it hanging in my closet, and it all just worked out! From top to bottom, my Marc Fisher heels even helped to complete the look too.

Below is a glimpse into the color palette of my travel— from my clothes to even the hotel room!

In addition to my outfits, the extensions alongside that field into the creative world and provided unexpected but welcomed creative inspo including the scenery of New York City., Our time in the Big Apple may have been brief but it will leave a ‘mark’ in my memories!

New York City Lodging

From wanting to find a location that was central enough to the Book Event while also wanting to be in a great location in general, I was thrilled we went with the iconic Hotel Chelsea. This hotel offered much more beyond its address, it also intrigued me through its atmosphere and designs making it the perfect place to stay!

From spending three days in NYC with my husband, Ken, we got back and just as we got settled back home, it was time to prep and get ready for Design Chicago. Luckily, this turnaround was not as crazy since it was right in my home state.

Design Chicago Highlights

From one city to the next, the team and I took a fun field trip to the city for Design Chicago! I was so honored to be part of a Q&A session hosted by Schumacher, with the amazing Hudson Moore as our wonderful moderator. It was such a joy answering all of the thoughtful questions which was then followed by a book signing in Schumacher’s showroom.
